A fine arts degree typically focuses on the creation and production of art, including studio work in areas such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media. Students in a fine arts program often develop their technical skills and creative expression through hands-on practice and experimentation. On the other hand, an art history degree focuses on the study of art within its historical, cultural, and social contexts. Students in an art history program analyze and interpret art from various periods and cultures, and they may also study the critical and theoretical frameworks that shape our understanding of art. While fine arts degrees emphasize artistic practice, art history degrees emphasize scholarly research and analysis. **

The seven liberal arts have their origins in ancient Greece, where they were divided into the trivium (grammar, rhetoric, and logic) and the quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy). These subjects were considered essential for a free person to be able to participate in civic life and were taught in the educational system of the time. Over time, the liberal arts became a cornerstone of education in the medieval and Renaissance periods, with an emphasis on developing critical thinking, communication skills, and a well-rounded education. Today, the liberal arts continue to be valued for their role in fostering a broad understanding of the world and developing skills that are essential for success in a wide range of fields. **
